Senior Accountant/Supervisor, Owner-Managed Business Sector

Our Boutique Client firm located in the beautiful Beaches neighbourhood has a requirement for a seasoned professional to join their Owner-Managed Business section of the practice. 

Key Areas of Responsibility

As a key member of the leadership team, you’ll work directly with Partners to plan, perform and complete engagements.  You will have the opportunity to resolve compliance and tax issues directly with the client, the CRA and other government or regulatory agencies. Personal and Corporate tax experience for owner-managed businesses is paramount to this mandate. Additionally, some Assurance experience (mainly in the NPO sector) and a strong knowledge base of full cycle Accounting expertise is essential.  

A successful candidate will have a desire for long-term career growth in Public Accounting with a path to Partnership opportunity for superior performers.

Requirements

  • Professional Accounting Designation CPA, CA,.
  • Minimum of two (2) years post designation professional experience at a small to midsize Public Accounting firm
  • Ability to deal effectively with Partners, Clients, Team, CRA and the firms’ spheres of influence
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Analyze complex accounting and technical information
  • Experience with Audit, Review and Notice to Reader engagements in a variety of Industries.
  • Possess exceptional technical skills and a fine attention to detail
  • Computer proficient; CASEWARE/CASEVIEW; Taxprep; Quickbooks; Adobe Acrobat; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to organize, prepare and clearly present information to our clients and team
  • A self-starter attitude with well-developed time management skills and the commitment to meeting deadlines

Accountant

Established Boutique Public Accounting firm operated by senior partners with extensive experience, knowledge, and credibility looking for a client service accountant. The candidate will benefit from a tremendous learning opportunity since the candidate will interact directly with the partners.

The successful candidate for this position will have experience working in a CPA firm handling bookkeeping/accounting tasks for various portfolios & clients using various accounting software packages such as Quickbooks, Quickbooks Online, Account Edge, Sage, Xero, Caseware, Taxprep, etc.

The successful candidate must have recent CPA firm experience of at least 2 years, understand the type of work in a CPA firm, be able to juggle many tasks, and have experience in tax return preparation both corporate and personal.

These tasks include, and are not limited to:

  • Be responsible for financial record-keeping of all client activities
  • Process payables, receivables, and payroll
  • Make journal entries
  • Prepare T4, T5, T3, GST, HST, PST, QST, WSIB returns, as required
  • Communicate with clients to identify issues
  • Complete bank and other account reconciliations
  • Preparing compilation financial engagements
  • Preparing quarterly and annual financial statements for private entities
  • Reconciling bank accounts, credit card statement and financial statements, and produce journal entries and adjustments should it be deemed necessary for the financial package
  • Preparing personal and corporate tax returns and working papers
  • Generate financial reports
  • Complete other accounting related duties, as required

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience from a CPA firm and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an accounting diploma/degree, or equivalent
  • Possess a good understanding of accounting principles and possess basic accounting skills
  • A working knowledge of cloud accounting software, such as QuickBooks Online and/or Xero, and Excel as well as an interest in technology and innovation
  • Quick learning capacity
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional manner and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel within metropolitan Toronto
